Is the service free?
Yes. Le Plat du Jour is free for Gastronauts, with no sign-up required. Advertising pays for the site; in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, a yearly subscription removes it, with no other perks.
Where does the site work?
Across Switzerland and Liechtenstein. You can search in any national language: “Geneva”, “Genève”, “Genf” or “Ginevra” all lead to the same place.
How do I find daily specials near me?
Type a town or postcode, or tap “Near me”: your location is used only for that search. Then pick a distance and narrow down with the filters: open now, cuisine, vegetarian, gluten-free, allergens, price.
Can I rely on the allergens shown?
Allergens are declared by each restaurant, under its own responsibility. If you have an allergy or intolerance, always check directly with the restaurant before ordering.
How do I book a table?
Depending on the restaurant, its page lets you call, open its booking site or send it a request by email (date, time and number of people). The restaurant replies to you directly: the booking is only confirmed by its reply.
What is a Gastronaut account for?
To save your favourite restaurants, get an email when they post their dish of the day, give a “Like” and suggest a restaurant that’s still missing. The account is free and can be deleted at any time.
My favourite restaurant isn’t listed: what can I do?
With a Gastronaut account, use “Suggest a restaurant”: we invite it to join, without ever passing on your name. You’ll be told if it signs up.
Something on a restaurant page is wrong: what can I do?
Tap “Report a problem” at the bottom of the page. We check every report and ask the restaurant to correct it if needed; it’s never told who you are.
Is there an app?
The site works like an app: on your phone, tap “Add to home screen” and Le Plat du Jour then opens with one tap, just like an app.
