Terms of use

1. Purpose

These terms of use govern the use of the site leplatdujour.ch and of the Le Plat du Jour apps (the “service”), published by D.G.E. Concept Sàrl. By using the service or creating an account, you accept them.

2. The service

The service shows the daily specials published by restaurants, food trucks and stalls located in Switzerland. You can search them by place, postcode, nearby or by dish, filter them, save favourites, give a “Like”, receive alerts, suggest a restaurant and contact restaurants. Browsing is free and paid for by advertising.

3. Accounts

  • There are three kinds of account: Gastronaut (free), restaurant owner and team member of a restaurant owner.
  • Creating an account requires a valid e-mail address, confirmed with a code; for a team member, with the invitation link received.
  • The service is intended for people aged 16 and over; younger people use it with the consent of a legal guardian.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for what is done with your account. A password is not shared: each person has their own access.
  • A restaurant owner may open only one owner account; registration is approved by D.G.E. Concept Sàrl.
  • You can delete your account at any time in “My account”. Invoices are kept for as long as the law requires.

4. Gastronaut space

A Gastronaut account lets you manage your favourites and their alerts, choose how often you receive e-mails (each publication, late-morning summary or none), be told about new restaurants near a chosen place, keep personal memos and save food preferences and allergens to avoid, which are applied to your searches automatically.

These preferences help filter results but never guarantee that an allergen or ingredient is absent: only the restaurant can confirm it.

5. Restaurant space

The restaurant owner publishes daily specials, menus, opening hours or tour, temporary closures, photos and announcements. A “Getting started” guide helps them set up; it can be hidden at any time.

They are solely responsible for the information they publish. They undertake to publish accurate, up-to-date and lawful content related to their venue and to which they hold the rights. They are responsible for the images they publish and mark as “Illustration” any image that does not show the dish actually served, in particular an image generated by artificial intelligence.

6. Team and team members

  • The owner can invite up to 10 team members by e-mail and choose which venues each one can access. The invitation link is valid for 7 days and can be used only once.
  • A team member can publish daily specials, manage planning, closures, dishes, menus, the venue page, photos, opening hours and announcements, share the board and view the statistics.
  • Only the owner can make the page visible or hide it, manage the subscription, payments and invoices, invite or remove people, add or delete a venue and delete the account.
  • The owner is responsible for what their team members do in their space. They can remove access at any time; content published by the team member stays in place.
  • An e-mail address already used by a restaurant owner or administrator account cannot join a team.

7. Short page address

Each venue has a short address of the form leplatdujour.ch/name, suggested from its name and editable by the restaurant owner. It has 3 to 30 characters (letters, digits, hyphens) and must be unique.

The chosen name must match the venue. Names that are misleading, offensive, imitate another venue or infringe the rights of others, in particular a trademark, are prohibited. D.G.E. Concept Sàrl may refuse or withdraw a name that breaks these rules; names used by the site itself are reserved.

A name that is given up still leads to the venue’s page and is not reassigned.

8. Temporary closures

The restaurant owner can record a temporary closure for one day or a period. During that time their page stays visible with a notice, but the venue no longer appears in searches; dishes already published are hidden and nothing is published automatically. Keeping this information up to date is the restaurant owner’s responsibility.

9. Search and order of results

Search results are sorted first by distance from the chosen place, then by the filters requested (open now, cuisine, service, food preferences, allergens, price). A word search also finds dishes of the same family (for example “fish” for a perch fillet). Without a place, a varied selection is shown.

The order is not influenced by payment: all subscribed restaurant owners are treated the same way.

10. Advertising

Ads are shown among the results, as a tile, labelled “Advertisement”. They come from Google or from direct advertisers. The “ad-free” subscription removes them; a signed-in restaurant owner sees no ads.

11. Mascot

The mascot answers questions from the information published on the site. It works without any external artificial intelligence; its answers are automatic, may be incomplete and do not bind D.G.E. Concept Sàrl or the restaurant owners. It knows the detailed composition of dishes only as far as the restaurant publishes it.

12. Reports and moderation

Anyone can report a problem on a page with the link provided. D.G.E. Concept Sàrl reviews reports and may ask the restaurant owner for a correction, remove content or block a venue that does not comply with these terms. The restaurant owner is told about the measure and its reason and can reply by e-mail. The identity of the person who reported is never disclosed to the restaurant owner.

13. Bookings and contact

The service does not handle bookings. A request sent with the form is forwarded by e-mail to the restaurant, which replies directly; it is only confirmed by the restaurant’s reply.

14. Suggested restaurants

A Gastronaut can suggest a restaurant that is not yet registered. The service may then invite it once by e-mail to join Le Plat du Jour; the restaurant can ask not to be contacted again.

15. Prohibited behaviour

It is prohibited to use the service for unlawful purposes, to try to disrupt it, to extract its data automatically, to publish misleading or offensive content or content that infringes the rights of others, to pass oneself off as another venue, or to misuse the forms (suggestions, reports, bookings, invitations).

16. Availability and liability

D.G.E. Concept Sàrl does its best to keep the service running but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability; interruptions may occur for maintenance. To the extent permitted by law, it is not liable for damage resulting from information published by restaurant owners, the mascot’s answers or an interruption of the service.

17. Suspension and closing an account

D.G.E. Concept Sàrl may suspend or close an account that seriously breaches these terms, after a warning except in urgent cases. Users can close their account at any time.

18. Personal data and cookies

The processing of personal data is described in the privacy policy, and the use of cookies on the Cookies page.

19. Changes

D.G.E. Concept Sàrl may change these terms. Registered users are told about important changes by e-mail at least 30 days before they take effect. The current version is published on this page.

20. Visits from the Le Plat du Jour team

A registered restaurant owner can request a visit from the Le Plat du Jour team through the contact form. This service is free; in return, the venue offers the team their meal: 2 people at most, the daily special or the suggestion of the day only, with one soft drink and one coffee or tea per person. The team’s availability is limited: it contacts the restaurant owner to set the date and the service (lunch or dinner), and may decline a request.

After the visit, the team freely writes an article published in “Our visits” and shares it on its social networks (Facebook, Instagram, X…), with the photos taken on site; the article mentions that the meal was offered. The team never publishes a negative review: if the experience is not satisfactory, no article is published and the team explains the reasons to the restaurant owner in person. The restaurant owner accepts the publication of the photos taken during the visit.

21. Language, applicable law and jurisdiction

These terms exist in French, German, Italian and English; in case of discrepancy, the French version prevails. They are governed by Swiss law. The place of jurisdiction is the registered office of D.G.E. Concept Sàrl, subject to mandatory legal jurisdictions, in particular for consumers.
